We are not actively seeking new artists currently. Most of
our submissions come through industry contacts or partner
labels. Please do not send unsolicited demos without
contacting us first. If you feel you have something we would
be interested in, be sure to follow industry guidelines on
demo submissions. The following is a list of some of the
things you should take into account before submitting
a demo or promo package:
- Research the label first, and know if they specialize
in a particular type of music. In our case, this would be
primarily electronic pop, dance, or mainstream pop.
There are always exceptions, so don't be afraid to ask,
but generally you will save yourself time and money by
directing your efforts toward labels of the appropriate genre.
- Make sure you have a professional promo package. If
there is no bio sheet or photo, you are just making it harder
for labels to gain strong interest in your songs. If you are
strictly a songwriter, a photo may not be essential, but a
bio sheet is almost always helpful for both reviewers and
A&R personnel. Check on the web for more information on
promo kits and what is usually included in them. Some of the
things you should try to include in your mailing would be:
- the demo, containing a high quality recording, preferably
on CD or CD-R, but cassette tape is acceptable (do not email
MP3 files to any label unless they specifically request it)
- a bio sheet, providing information on your background,
experience, as well as detailed future goals
- photo, ideally a professional promo shot, labeled with
your name and contact info
- any press reviews, discography of independent releases,
or a list of recent live shows, general information to convince
the reader of your experience and qualifications
If you would like to submit a promotional package to
Border Blue Records for consideration, please
email the A&R Department
through the contact page.
